Ciorcal Cainte (Talking Circle)

Ciorcal Cainte is a space to encourage the use of the Irish langauge. In Ireland we use the term ‘cúpla focal’ to describe when someone uses any bits and pieces of Irish they know when they speak. It’s a term used to encourage people to keep the language alive, whether they are fluent or not. Ciorcal Cainte is just that; a space for people with any level of Irish to sit and chat with each other. As a minority language, we have to work hard to keep it alive.

I was accepted this year to have my installation at All Together Now festival in Waterford. After submitting an application in June, I was contacted mid July and had about 2 weeks to put together the installation.
