idea and identity for an application.&nbsp;Below I have shown a presentation detailing my design and research process and end result for the restaurant. My concept was a plant-based organic restaurant that occupies the space between Glas and Cornucopia, two of my favourite restaurants. I chose to create a “meat shop” setup for my display to put my prints in context. I had images of meat beside PETA campaigns and my own prints surrounding them promoting ‘fresh meat’ and ‘large breasts’. My own take on the PETA campaign ‘I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur’ was displayed on the wall above, replacing ‘go naked’ with ‘be respected’. I included an extra element of a newspaper layout as well. During this four-week intensive course, each participant explored the potential of typographic communication through the creation of visual identity projects for a location in Dublin of our own choosing. The aim of the identity was to bring residents of this area together so they can embrace all it has to offer. It’s a central hub for people who live between the villages Blackrock and Stillorgan, and offers them somewhere local where they can shop and socialise. I created the logotype using Illustrator and Glyphs and it is based on a street sign I spotted nearby while researching. It is accompanied by Bricolage Grotesque which is described as having historical and personal feelings, perfectly suited to the area. In Ireland we use the term ‘cúpla focal’ to describe when someone uses any small bits of Irish they know whenever they can. It’s a term used to encourage people to keep the language alive, whether they are fluent or not. ‘Ciorcal Cainte’ is just that; a space for people with any level of Irish to sit and chat with each other. As a minority language, we have to work hard to keep it alive.
