Inferno is a musical interpretation of the first part
of Dante’s Divine Comedy, Inferno. In the poem,
Dante is lead on a tour of Hell by the poet Virgil where he witnesses the sins of humanity, in all
of it’s forms, being brought to justice through wild and creative punishments.
I was asked to design a press package and initial
album design for Inferno. The illustrations, by Ray Murphy, depict certain scenes from the poems that the composer and performer, Elliot Murphy, chose to foreground. When the album’s editing is fully complete, I will be revisiting the cover design and finishing it for final production.
For the logotype, I took inspiration from an old copy of The Divine Comedy that I found online. Its’ text looked somewhat cheerful in a satirical way which suits the nature of the story.
